DR. VERN CHARETTE
“Brother Vern” is our Senior Pastor. He grew up with an alcoholic father and had a sister die at the age of 39 due to alcohol and drugs. As a teenager hailing from the "Westside” of Tulsa, Vern was following suit. Vern was a high school dropout, in trouble with the authorities and living an immoral life. An African American preacher witnessed to the 18-year-old and invited him to church. In the summer of 1990 and in a little store front church in Tulsa, Vern, broken by the power of the gospel, gave his life to Jesus.
God confirmed Vern’s call to preach at the age of 19, after a trip to Falls Creek. The same trip, in which, Vern also met his wife, Jennifer. In 1997, the GED graduate entered Oklahoma Baptist University and started his formal educational journey. After graduating from OBU, Vern would go on and earn an M.Div. at Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tennessee and a Th.M. and Ph.D. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. During these years of formal education, Vern continued his evangelistic ministry and has more than two decades of itinerate evangelism experience. Vern also has more than seven-years’ experience teaching “text-driven” preaching as a professor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and has served in an adjunctive role with both Southwestern and the Haskins School for Oklahoma Baptists.
Vern and “Jen” celebrated their 32nd wedding anniversary recently and have a son named “Christian,” after John Bunyan’s famous character in Pilgrims Progress.
Blake Taylor
My name is Blake Taylor and I am the Associate Pastor of Worship and Missions. I married to my beautiful bride, Codi Taylor. We have been following Jesus in Marriage for 13 years together. God has built an amazing family around us. We have a blended family of five children. I have a son named Creed who is 18 and a senior at Lindsay High School. My bride and I have a daughter, Bently, who is going to be 12 this year. We have another daughter, Asher, who is 10. We also have a daughter, Grace, who is 8. Our newest addition is our son, Ezra, who is 2 years old.
We truly believe at the core of our identity in Christ, we are a family of Servant Missionaries. This is something that defines not only our family unit, but we believe it defines who the Church is in Christ. We believe that God has gifted us with a passion and a Drive to see Christ formed in the individual lives of those in the church through life on life discipleship. We have followed Jesus enough to observe that the fruits of Christ formation is mission. When Christ is formed in us, we will reach those around us with the Love of Christ. Discipleship & Mission are two words that summarize what we believe God has called us to within the ministry of the Church. We love Christ’s Bride and we believe it is an honor to serve Her every day until our death or His Return.

Amber Chadwick
I serve as the Administrative Assistant where I am honored to support church leadership, ministries, and our congregation through organization, communication, and a heart for service. I earned my associate’s degree in early childhood education and child development in December 2022 and a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Mid-America Christian University.
Ministry is at the heart of my work, with a special passion for serving in the students’ ministry, helping prepare our church for seasonal celebrations through decorating, and supporting community outreach events. I value creating welcoming spaces and meaningful connections that encourage spiritual growth and reflect Christ’s love.
I have been happily married to my husband, Troy, since May of 2003, and we are blessed with four children—Zaira, Zyann, Zandon, and Zynlee—and an amazing son-in-law, Joey. Outside of church, I enjoy photography, art, music, decorating, and spending time with my family and our three mini poodles, Cleo, Whitley, and Colter.
